Assurance of sustainablity

woodsTo ensure that the production of our furniture has minimum impact on the environment we follow our own strict guidelines at all stages of manufacture - from living tree to finished bed.

In our Eco Ash range of beds the head and footboards are made from English ash and the side rails and slats are made from FSC certified pine. The ash is grown in managed woodlands within a 20-mile radius of our workshops.

The ash is a combination of coppiced timber or harvested thinnings. Coppiced timber is produced by cutting the tree but leaving the remaining stump to produce new stems and hence more timber in the future. Thinnings are produced when it is necessary to create more space in a forest for the remaining trees to grow in height and girth.

In our sustainable pine range of furniture the timber used is Quebec yellow pine, famed for its light weight and stability. Our suppliers for this have their own very strict timber management policy which can be seen at www.falcontimber.com

Any other wood used in our range is FSC certified.
